950 miles in two days. Taking an electric road trip in a Tesla
A very thorough trip report of Tesla from New York to Atlanta by Peter Valdes-Dapena of CNN Business
Author says:
The first trip they took in 2013 in Tesla Model S(270 miles range) from DC to Boston. Back then, Tesla’s Supercharger network of charging stations barely qualified as a network, and no Superchargers in the entire state of New Jersey. But in 2019, 6 years on, Tesla’s Supercharger network has grown enormously. And Tesla has started production of the new Tesla Model S Long Range, which provides 370 miles of range on a full charge.
The efficiency improvements don’t detract from the Model S experience. It’s still a great car to drive, with powerful performance and an amazing amount of interior space. I covered about 950 miles in two days, and learned what today’s zero-emission road tripping is really like.
Our take:
This is a great writeup! The author does a great job of explaining the charging process and Tesla’s features. Also he compared a trip he previously did to this one.
